TIPCHECK Audits – Structured Assessment of Heat Losses
As a certified EiiF TIPCHECK Expert Level 4, we conduct standardized TIPCHECK audits for the technical assessment of heat losses in existing insulation systems. The objective is a traceable condition assessment enabling independent evaluation and prioritisation by the operator.
What Is TIPCHECK?
TIPCHECK (Technical Insulation Performance Check) is a standardized thermal energy audit methodology developed by the European Industrial Insulation Foundation (EiiF) for industrial insulation systems. It serves the systematic identification of energy-related irregularities and the structured documentation of heat losses.
Relevant plant areas are evaluated – from heat and cold generation units to piping, tanks and process components. Results are documented and technically classified. They serve as a basis for internal prioritisation, maintenance planning and investment considerations by the operator.

In contrast to broader energy audits, the focus is on the condition and thermal performance of insulation systems. The assessment is carried out without product recommendations and without affiliation to specific suppliers or contractors.

Independence and Neutrality
TIPCHECK audits are carried out without recommendation of specific products, manufacturers or suppliers. There is no contractual relationship with product suppliers. All assessments are based solely on technical and energy-related evaluation criteria.
All decisions regarding measures, procurement, tendering, award and implementation remain with the operator.
Professional Background

Scope Limitations
A TIPCHECK audit is not detailed plant design, product selection, tendering or supervision of execution. It does not replace a dedicated inspection for corrosion under insulation (CUI).
Where externally visible irregularities are observed during site inspection, these may be documented as technical indications. Systematic CUI inspection or removal of insulation is not part of a TIPCHECK audit.
Transparency
TIPCHECK audits are carried out independently and outside of primary employment. The audits serve solely the technical assessment of existing conditions.
No obligations arise regarding the use of specific products, systems or suppliers. The results serve exclusively as a basis for internal decision-making by the operator.
