Monitor and Assess CUI
Sensor-based systems record temperature and moisture trends over extended periods. We review and assess this measurement data and document irregularities for operators.
Overview of Measurement Approaches
Two technical approaches are used to observe potential CUI risks:
- Intrusive: measurement inside the insulation system through openings or probes.
- Non-intrusive: sensors mounted externally on cladding or plant components.
The selection is made by the operator and depends on boundary conditions, accessibility and safety requirements.
What Monitoring Makes Visible
Continuous measurements can make temperature and moisture trends visible over time. This allows irregularities to be identified that may not be readily visible during single inspections.
- irregular moisture trends: recurring or persistent
- deviating temperature profiles: compared with reference areas
- changes over time: across longer observation periods
- operating phases in the data trend: e.g. shutdown or heat-up
- documented irregularities: as a basis for further review
The evaluation of monitoring data does not replace opening the system or a more detailed technical condition assessment.
Data Evaluation
We review and analyse measurement data from CUI monitoring systems independently of manufacturers and system providers.
The evaluation includes plausibility checks of the recorded values, analysis of time-based trends and technical classification of irregularities in the data pattern.
The assessment is based exclusively on the available data and its development over time.
The evaluation does not constitute a decision on measures or interventions.
Our Role
REICHINGER INGENIEURE acts exclusively as a reviewing and assessing party.
- review of available measurement data: plausibility and completeness
- analysis of temperature and moisture trends
- documentation of technical irregularities
- report with a traceable presentation of the findings
Decisions on measures, systems or interventions remain with the operator.
Transparency
The evaluation is performed by Dipl.-Ing. Stephan-F. Reichinger (EiiF TIPCHECK Expert Level 4 / FROSIO Insulation Inspector Level 3).
Dipl.-Ing. Stephan-F. Reichinger is employed full-time by a manufacturer of insulation materials. The activity described on this website is separate from and independent of that employment.
For the sake of transparency, it is disclosed that Dipl.-Ing. Stephan-F. Reichinger serves on a voluntary and unpaid basis in an advisory function in the field of sensor-based CUI monitoring. This role is non-commercial and does not include sales-related or operational project responsibilities.
The services described on this website are strictly limited to the independent technical assessment and documentation of existing conditions. They do not include the selection, recommendation, procurement or installation of monitoring systems or other technical solutions.
There are no commission, brokerage or sales-related payments in connection with monitoring systems. Any relevant relationships are disclosed before a project is accepted.
If a conflict of interest cannot be excluded in an individual case, the respective activity will not be accepted or will be terminated.
Decisions on systems, measures and interventions remain solely with the operator.
Further Services
- TIPCHECK Audits: structured identification and documentation of heat losses
- Spot Inspections: condition and execution of insulation systems on site
- Specifications and Standards: technical assessment of existing documents
- Expert Reports: independent assessment based on available data
